Frequently Asked Questions

+ What medical insurances do you accept?

We are currently in-network for Medicare, UHC, Aetna, BCBS, Emblem Health, Workers Compensation, and No-Fault insurances. We also accept all other insurances as an out-of-network provider.

We will verify your coverage and bill your insurance directly as a courtesy to you. You will not have to submit a superbill to your insurance. If we are unable to get coverage from your medical insurance, we are still committed to working with you! We will work with you by offering a sliding scale self-pay fee per session. Please contact us for more information.

+ Will I need to submit a “superbill” to my insurance?

A superbill is a form that your therapist or physician gives you so you can submit the claim to your insurance company to get reimbursement for a percentage of the payment you make to your therapist.

You will not have to submit any superbills when you work with us. We will take care of the insurance billing, so you can focus on your recovery. We believe that if you work with us, the only thing you should be working on at home are your exercises!

+ Will I need a physician’s referral to get services?

For Physical Therapy in California or New York, you will NOT need a physician’s referral to begin treatment. You will need a referral if your treatment lasts greater than 45 days of care in California and 30 days in New York.

For Occupational Therapy you WILL need a referral from a physician to begin treatment.

If you are a Medicare member, you will need a physician referral to begin therapy.

If you list your Primary Care Doctor’s name and information in your intake forms, we will communicate with your PCP on your behalf to get the necessary referrals.

+ What should I expect for my therapy sessions?

With E.M.I., every session will begin by learning about you, your goals, and how you are performing your daily activities. We want to learn as much about you as we can, so we can curate very specific and meaningful exercises to help you achieve your goals.

You will then be taken through a lot of exercises and skilled theraputic activitites designed to help you improve your strength, flexibility, and movement awareness.

Finally, each session you will conclude by reassessing how you are feeling and if you notice any changes to your symptoms. You should expect to feel significant improvements each session!

+ How many sessions will it take for me to feel better?

Every condition is different, but more importantly, everyBODY is different. In order to provide you with an accurate recovery timeframe, we will need to perform a thorough evaluation and see how you are responding to the treatments. Schedule a visit with us to get started!

That being said, we are committed to having you make significant progress each session!

+ Is teletherapy as effective as in-person therapy?

For most people, a teletherapy session is as effective in improving your functional mobility, and pain as in-person therapy. With teletherapy, your treatments will be composed entirely of active movements with long term sustainable benefits in mind. This is why your teletherapy sessions will be equally as effective as in-person sessions.

Your sessions will also be in the comfort of your homes and more convenient!

+ What areas do you do At-Home Therapy Visits?

At-Home Therapy visits are done in Queens, Manhattan, and parts of Brooklyn.

Home visits are scheduled at a case-by-case basis. Call or email us so we can schedule a visit!
