Bhavik Sheth is the co-founder and Physical Therapist at EMI. He is specialized in Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from New York Medical College and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Stony Brook University.
Bhavik’s greatest skill as a physical therapist is performing comprehensive evaluations. He assesses a client’s abilities through movements and actions, analyses the connections between body parts, and discovers the sources of the pain, inability, or injury. With every case, he observes the whole body and finds the relationships between movement impairments from one joint leading to symptoms in another joint. These connections help Bhavik find holistic solutions for the whole person and not only a body part. His goal is to help each client return to what they love, not simply to treat an injured body part.
Bhavik believes that the best treatment he provides his patients is education. His style of Physical Therapy involves asking questions and learning about his patients’ lifestyles and hobbies. With this information, he curates a specific prescription of exercises and stretches, as well as lifestyle modifications to help his patients transform their lives. His coaching style is a mix of positive reinforcement and candid feedback.
Bhavik is fascinated by the healing arts, such as Yoga, Ayurveda, and Holistic medicine. He incorporates the emphasis of wellness with the methodology and framework of his Doctor of Physical Therapy education to see a person as a whole, rather than their injury. He is also passionate about sports, dance, and gymnastics as it showcases the amazing potential of the human body through movement. He feels fortunate to have found a profession where he can combine his passions and interests to connect with people and coach them through their recovery.
Bhavik’s role in the medical field is that of a primary care provider for musculoskeletal conditions. Just like you go to your physician for an annual wellness examination to check your vitals and screen for medical conditions, he sees clients annually or bi-annually for physical assessments to screen them for any risk factors for injuries and to ensure that they are injury-free and thriving.
